レクイエム・プロジェクトとは？
作曲家・上田益が主宰するプロフェッショナルな音楽プロジェクトです。プロの合唱指揮者、声楽家、ピアニスト、オーケストラと協働し、自然災害や戦争で傷ついた地域（被災地）において、惨禍の記憶を音楽という形で記録・伝承し、いのちの大切さを音楽で伝える活動を行うことが趣旨であり目的です。

​2008年に阪神・淡路大震災の被災地「神戸」で始まり、東京・沖縄・兵庫県佐用町・長崎・広島・仙台・南相馬・岩手県北部沿岸地域・気仙沼に広がり、現在は仙台・東京・神戸・広島・長崎の５箇所で活動を続けています。

特徴の一つは、ベートーヴェンの交響曲第9番などを演奏するプロオーケストラと同様に、コンサートに向けて専門的な指導を受ける合唱団を常時組織している点です。

​

また、被災地の詩人と新しい合唱作品の創作を行い、すべて大手楽譜出版社から刊行されています。その数は26タイトルになります。

What is the Requiem Project?

The Requiem Project is a professional music initiative led by composer Masaru Ueda. Its purpose and goal is to collaborate with professional choral conductors, vocalists, pianists, and orchestras to record and pass on the memories of catastrophe through music in regions devastated by natural disasters or war (affected areas), conveying the preciousness of life through music.

​Beginning in 2008 in Kobe, a disaster-affected area of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, the project expanded to Tokyo, Okinawa, Sayo Town in Hyogo Prefecture, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Sendai, Minamisoma, the northern coastal region of Iwate Prefecture, and Kesennuma. It currently continues its activities in five locations: Sendai, Tokyo, Kobe, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki.

One distinctive feature is the organization of a permanent choir that receives professional training for concerts, similar to professional orchestras performing works like Beethoven's Symphony No. 9.

​

Additionally, the project collaborates with poets from disaster-affected areas to create new choral works, all published by major music publishers. To date, 26 titles have been released.
